Journal of Wave Energy Systems and Technology (WEST) is an international peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to research and innovation in wave energy conversion, marine renewable energy systems, hydrodynamics, power take-off technologies, control strategies, reliability, digital monitoring, and sustainable marine energy deployment.
The journal publishes theoretical, experimental, computational, technological, operational, and policy-oriented studies across four main areas: Wave Energy Conversion Systems and Devices; Hydrodynamics, Modeling and Experimental Technology; Control, Power Take-Off, Reliability and Digital Technologies; and Wave Energy Deployment, Sustainability and Marine Systems.
WEST particularly welcomes research that connects wave-energy science and engineering with device performance, hydrodynamic efficiency, control optimization, reliability, survivability, digital technologies, economic feasibility, environmental responsibility, and real-world deployment. Relevant topics include wave energy converters, oscillating water columns, point absorbers, attenuators, overtopping devices, power take-off systems, numerical and experimental hydrodynamics, CFD, wave-tank testing, mooring interaction, digital twins, artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, resource assessment, grid integration, techno-economic analysis, lifecycle assessment, and marine spatial planning.
Interdisciplinary contributions from ocean engineering, offshore engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, control engineering, materials science, artificial intelligence, environmental science, energy economics, and marine policy are welcome when they demonstrate a clear contribution to wave energy conversion, marine renewable-energy technology, system performance, deployment, reliability, or sustainability.
